Our research group

The LIRIS XR research group is part of the ORIGAMI team, which belongs to the LIRIS laboratory. Our research group, in Saint-Etienne, France, relies on the Virtual/eXtended Reality equipments of the SensoXR platform, located at Centrale Lyon ENISE. In this group, we conduct cutting edge research on virtual reality, therefore using and contributing to develop the SensoXR platform itself.

Research topics

Our research interests lie in the areas of Virtual, Augmented Reality, and Mixed Reality technologies and usages. We notably aim to build and evaluate immersive polysensory experiences, as well as understanding user behaviours in XR. Our overall objective is to better understand and improve the quality of user experience in immersive 3D applications, by proposing new algorithms and devices, as well as experimental human studies. We believe in open science and are regular providers of public datasets, open-source software, and open hardware. Our main target applications are cultural heritage, exposure therapy and immersive learning.
